To keep the Sunday blues away, here are some photos of my famously stylish grandmother "Ellen" (she insisted we call her by her first name which was worth a lot of cache to my friends who all just had "Nannas"). She was a wonderful, kind and intensely colorful lady who never met a person, pattern or pet (see photo holding her pet duck) she didn't like. She worked as a costume designer for the Milwaukee ballet and sewed all of my mom and aunt's clothing and eventually all of her grandchildren's Halloween costumes. In her younger days she was a big fan of the oversized blazer with nothing underneath (a style beloved by both myself and Victoria Beckham) and her sartorial expositions only got more exciting as the years passed. Don't miss the one where she attended a Halloween bash dressed as "birth control" in 1965, taken during her time as the Schenectady President of Planned Parenthood.
